Michael Kingham
Hi, my name is Mike, my property is in the south east corner of the developement area, I have been involved with the rezoning for more than 8 years, attending every meeting, making many phone calls, and making submissions at every stage. I would like to know, why, at this final stage, the plan that the Community Consultative Committee, along with the Land owners, agreed upon has been basically changed.I am, and always have been, in favour of redevelopement, but I have many friends who live in areas, such as Bebich estate, Lenore/ Franklin Roads, and around Lake Adams, who have not had to be concerned about rezoning for urban, as it has NEVER been in any plan that these areas be developed. Why has the plan, that was agreed, been changed so drastically?.Our local M.P. & Minister, have done a great job,in getting to this structure plan up and running,(considering that they both moved into empty offices, without a scrap of paper or file, anywhere, and had to restart from square one) having been in office for such a short time, but WHY has the plan been changed? one can only assume that the persons who prepared this Structure plan at WAPC, have never set foot in the area, and haven't seen the magnificent houses, and properties they wish to urbanise.(for example, Elliot road is proposed to cut through the newly, built by the congregation, Coptic church,as well as two, very expensive, Mansions,on the corner of Elliot/Benmuni Roads, plus cut thro. DUVA's Deli, which has a big, multi used, very expensive, mobile phone tower,)I think the Plan Makers, at WAPC should venture out from their ivory towers,in Perth, and come and spend a couple of days looking around the area to make sure they are not making stupid mistakes and looking complete idiots!.I was of the impression that the previous plan had very few objections and the vast majority were happy with it. WHY HAS IT BEEN CHANGED?.

Environmental Quote

"Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure."

— John McConnell, founder of International Earth Day

Social Quote

... the 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy.

Australian social scientist, quoted by Noam Chomsky in World Orders Old and New
