CCWA logo

The Conservation Council of Western Australia (CCWA) is the State's foremost non-profit, non-government conservation organisation. We are WA's peak environment group with over 100 member groups and have been an outspoken advocate for conservation and a sustainable WA for over 40 years.

At the Conservation Council we are working with community, government and industry towards a more sustainable future for Western Australia. With professional staff and dedicated volunteers, we work on policy development and legislative change, consultation, campaigning, submission writing, and environmental education. We gather and distribute information and provide support and a forum for other conservation groups. We liaise directly with the Government, media departments, community groups, and political parties. CCWA works in partnership with community groups large and small. Groups are invited to become members of the CCWA network.

Our current priorities

By supporting communities, building partnerships, and developing solutions-focused policies, CCWA is helping to create a future worth looking forward to.

  • Securing a sustainable water future for Perth and the southwest
  • Enabling the transition to a clean energy economy and phasing out polluting fossil fuels
  • Creating a network of large marine sanctuaries
  • Preserving bushland and other habitat to prevent the extinction of WA species
  • Halting inappropriate industrial development that threatens our environment and communities
  • Reducing pollution and improving waste recycling in WA
  • Protecting rivers and wetlands
  • Preventing uranium mining in WA and support a radioactive free future

Environmental Quote

"Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure."

— John McConnell, founder of International Earth Day

Social Quote

... the 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy.

Australian social scientist, quoted by Noam Chomsky in World Orders Old and New

This is how change happens

We need your support and input to make changes in our community. Our vision is to create a place where everyday people can be heard and have the power to make choices. We are not only the custodians of our homes, but also our communities.
